RAMSEY KATYNSKI RECITAL
TO BENEFIT MICHIGAN OPERA THEATRE'S

DETROIT, Michigan, May 14, 2009...Promising young countertenor Ramsey Katynski will give a recital on stage at the Detroit Opera House on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 7 p.m. to benefit Michigan Opera Theatre's Learning at the Opera House summer educational programs. An alumnus of Learning at the Opera House programs, this will be Katynski's debut recital on the Detroit Opera House stage.
Special guests at the performance will include mezzo-soprano Bre'ann Davert and the Dakota High School Varsity Chorus, directed by Susan Cantanese. The recital will include several arias from Handel's Giulio Cesare in Egitto and Rinaldo, excerpts from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, art songs by Schubert and Weckerlin, and a song cycle entitled Encountertenor, composed by John Hall and Jake Heggie.
Katynski was named one of the 2009 David Daniels' Young Artists, and performed with the Pontiac Oakland Symphony in February 2009. He was awarded the MaTilDa award for Outstanding Student in Voice Performance at Oakland University for the 2008-09 academic year. Katynski is a recent graduate of Oakland University, where he studied under Candace de Lattre. He is also the General Director of the Detroit Opera Valkyries.
